NANS to South Africa: Stop Xenophobic Attacks in 7 Days Or We’ll Retaliate
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has given the South African Government seven days ultimatum to stop the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans resident in that country.
This ultimatum is conveyed in a statement issued by the association and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday.
The statement, signed by Nwankwo Ezekiel, NAN’s Public Relations Officer, warned that South African investments and citizens in Nigeria would face reprisal attacks if the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and their businesses were not stopped.
"NANS condemns the sudden surge of attacks and deaths of our brothers and sisters and loss of their properties in South Africa as a result of xenophobia attacks.
It is with deep sense of sadness and brotherhood that we are urging the South African Government to ensure an urgent solution and bring to an end attacks on our own citizens and their businesses within the next seven days.
If the attacks and looting are not stopped within seven days, we will be left with no alternative than to go against all the South African investments in our noble country, Nigeria.
We will not stop at this but will go further and make all South Africa citizens residing in our country uncomfortable’’, it said.
It added that South Africa and Nigeria were being looked up to by the world to lead Africa to greatness, adding that xenophobic attacks were an embarrassment to the entire continent.

Forgive Me I’m Ready To Give You Whatever You Want- Fayose Begs
Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose said his opponents should forgive him and that nobody is above mistakes.
Fayose said he knows he have a lot of enemies and that’s why he doesn’t have rest of mind to rule his state properly and he’s ready to do anything for them.
Ayo said this at a special prayer session organized for him by the Ansar-udeen mosque in Ado-Ekiti. The event was to celebrate his recent victory at the supreme court.
Read his statement below:
“If they say someone has enemies, I’m number one in the world. But God has been merciful and has been helping me to overcome my challenges.I need your prayers because it will strengthen me more. I’m here in the mosque to thank God.
“All I want is peace. I have a constitutionally guaranteed tenure. A governor is judged by his achievements in office. All I’m interested in is to bring development to my people. My opponents know if I have a rest of mind I will achieve my objectives.
“All those I have offended should forgive me for the sake of the masses and orphans. They should know people gave me the mandate. Nobody is above mistake; they should forgive me.”We are here to thank God and pray for peace. I’m appealing to those aggrieved to please allow peace to reign. There is no perfect man. Don Moen, Frank Edwards Collaborate On An Album
Surprise! surprise!! foreign collaborations with international acts has for long been limited to circular and rap music in Nigeria.
This here is a new opening for that also in the gospel music circle as Nigerian ace gospel artist, Frank Edwards, is currently recording songs in collaboration with American Grammy award winning gospel music legend, Don Moen, in the United States of America.
The picture of the duo in a studio surfaced and set social media on fire recently. But contrary to speculations, they are not working on just a song but on a joint album, as unveiled to LEADERSHIP Weekend by a very close associate of Frank Edwards. The associate who pleaded anonymity, further explained that they have been recording since last year, but there is no set date yet for the album’s debut.
Frank Edwards and Don Moen have performed on stage together a couple of times but never have they sang on the same beat (till now). One would have expected such collaboration for Frank Edwards to be with Donnie Mcclurkin, as both have performed together twice in the Experience musical concert, in Lagos. Surely, the clandestine move to surprise gospel music lovers around the world has yet more unknowns.
I’m Married To My Music: Jesse Jagz
Artiste and producer Jesse Abaga, popularly known as Jesse Jagz, can best be described as one of Nigeria’s most diverse artistes. In this interview with Aderigbe Tolulope, ‘the Wetin Dey’ crooner talks about his latest album, Jagz Nation Vol 2, his opinion about the “baby-mama” phenomenon and politics.
Who is Jesse Abaga?
I am a musician, an artiste; music is an expression of me. Be it pop, reggae, hip hop or even afro, I have always broken sound boundaries with my music and brand.
How has your latest album, “Jagz Nation Vol. 2: Royal Niger Company” been faring?
It is doing great even though it wasn’t a big budget project; and it was released while I was idle. It’s not even been a year since it was released, so I’m still promoting and exploiting it.
How did your stage name, “Jesse Jagz” come about?
One day, a friend of mine called me “Jesse Jagz” and it just stuck since then. It started as a nickname and then I started using it as a brand name.
Is it true that you and your brother, MI fell out because of your decision to leave Chocolate City?
We were never beefing. That’s my brother and friend; same thing with Ice Prince. Audu Maikori is my uncle. We’ve always been comfortable with agreeing to disagree. They are my family.
Does your label, Jagz Nation still exist?
Jagz Nation will always exist. Long after I’m gone, it will continue to expand. I’m working on making that my empire. Been working and talking with some artistes so in no time, you’ll hear good things.
What is the inspiration behind your singles “Redemption” and “Sunshine”?
Redemption is a socially conscious song that addresses political problems. Sunshine was just a Lagos feel good song. I sampled the legend, Fela on that; it’s one of my favourites too.
How would you describe your music?
My music is eclectic. I am a man with many sides and that reflects in my music. I flirt with genres and create from the energy I feel. I don’t have a genre. My genre is Jesse Jagz. When you hear my music, you just know.
Aside music, what else does Jesse do?
There’s always business to take care of on the side. Been working on a lot of stuff and they will come to light this year. Apart from that, I spend my free time developing myself-reading, writing, and meditating. I build myself; everything else is as a result of that.
Celebrities with “baby mamas” seem to be the in-thing now; being one of them, what’s your take?
(Laughs) “Baby Mamas” have always been there. Artistes didn’t invent it. The times we live in are different. I’ll just say a lot more people are exposed at a younger age now. Ruby (my daughter’s mother) and I have been close friends and that will never change.
You once said in an interview that your daughter raps better than most Nigerian rappers. Is she still pursuing that talent?
Right now, she plays the piano and I’m teaching her to produce. But formal education is important. She’s super talented, but we’ll know when she decides.
The FCT chapter of PMAN is pushing for a ministry of entertainment. What is your take on that?
(Laughs) If they want it to work, they don’t need to announce it. When we have a body that works, we’ll know. PMAN is just one aspect of making sure things go well and we have a real industry.
Are you dating anyone currently and any plans to marry soon?
I’m not dating and don’t think I’ll be settling down soon. I’m married to my music for now.
Rumour has it that you’re dating one of Femi Kuti’s dancers, Sandra. Is it true?
Like you said, it’s a rumour. She’s my close friend so I am not surprised; people always take things out of context.
Which aspect of your career do you love the most-producing, songwriting or rapping?
Those are all aspects of my career. They all add up into one. I work and give time to all three. The better my production, the better the song writing and vice versa.
How do you relax?
I read, write, and watch a movie or travel. When I’m home though, I relax by just being quiet. Silence is hard to find these days.
You’ve been described as Nigeria’s Kanye West due to your musical diversity, do you agree?
I let others do the defining; my job is to make music. I am Jesse Jagz.
Politics seems to hold an attraction for entertainers; what’s your take on that and what suggestions do you have for the president-elect about your industry?
We all are into politics one way or the other. It affects all of us. I would tell him to create more jobs. Most of us artistes and a lot of the people who run this industry are self-employed.

8 Things To Do On The Day Of Your Performance- Gogo Majin
I wrote this article to provide a step by step plan of what you need to do as a singer on the day of a performance. We have discussed in previous articles what you should do as a singer in the months and weeks leading up to your big day, but today, I want to go over what your conduct on the day of a performance should be. What you do on the day of your actual performance is important. You must take special care in the hours leading up to the performance because a great performance just doesn’t happen. You need to make a conscious effort, informed by proper vocal technique and vocal hygiene to make it happen. Preparation is the key to a successful performance and I have outlined the step by step plan to serve as a guideline for every professional voice user below:
1) Vocal care should start in the morning as soon as you wake up. The quality of the voice that you wake up with in the morning is sometimes a result of what has happened the night before. If you have acid reflux, you need to take special care the night before a big performance to ensure that your voice is in top shape in the morning. Acid reflux is a condition in which stomach acids come up to the oesophagus causing a sore throat and heartburn. If you are affected by this condition, what you eat and when you eat it determines how your voice will sound in the morning. Acid reflux is aggravated by certain foods-spicy foods, acidic fruits, caffeine, alcohol for example. Also, eating large meals late at night makes the condition worse. It is recommended that you stay away from the foods that aggravate acid reflux and also eat at least three hours before you go to bed. Antacids after meals also help.
The last thing you want is a sore throat on your big day. Also if you are out talking and using your voice in places with very loud music like a night club for instance, you will end up doing some vocal abuse and you will wake up in the morning with a voice that’s tired and abused.
2) Drink lots of water and try to drink the water before you do any talking. Let water be the first thing that gets into your tummy in the morning. This helps to begin the process of the moistening of your vocal cords so that they can vibrate freely and produce sound unhindered. You will need to drink water throughout the day but it is important that you start early before any speaking activity, singing activity and before vocal exercises.
3) The next thing would be physical exercise. It’s important to feel good about your body when you are performing and exercise in addition to keeping you healthy, helps you feel good within and without. A performer that’s insecure about their body is more likely to give a self-conscious performance and you might not really let loose and be free. Exercise will also help you build physical stamina. Performing constantly under lights and having to do choreography or stage movement can be very stressful especially when you are not physically fit. I have also said many times before that your physical health affects your vocal health as well so, physical exercise is integral to your routine on the day of your performance and for your overall health all year round.
4) Drink some herbal tea. I wouldn’t advise tea that contains caffeine or beverages that require milk. I suggest camomile tea or green tea, something with all natural ingredients. Herbal teas are great for relaxation and calming nerves. It’s nice to slowly sip some tea before vocal warm ups.

A reminder to ignorant South Africans who feel the need to attack those who helped them in ways that can never be repaid.

Photo: 1 year after Nyanya bomb blast, road leading to the place still barricaded
One year after Nyanya bomb blast, security operatives still barricade the road going up Nyanya flyover, causing motorists of Mararaba, Nyanya, Karu, Jikwoyi and environs untold hardship. The Nyanya park has been relocated to the roadside by the market, causing heavy traffic gridlock, especially in the morning rush hour. Please kindly use your blog to help us appeal to relevant authorities for the road and the park to be reopened.
It didn't take five days before reopening Emab plaza after the bomb explosion there, so why is this one different? We have suffered too much on account of this. Imagine spending four hours in traffic for a journey that ordinarily takes ten to fifteen minutes. By the time one gets to work, it's already 10-11am, depending on when one leaves the house. Exhaustion and tension then renders one less effective for that day. In the long run, this affects the nation's GDP, since productivity is reduced. Thanks in anticipation that you will share our plight with the world to hear.
